Abstract :
The single patch antenna gain and bandwidth is increased when a dielectric radome with metal inclusions is positioned on top of the radiating element (patch). The inclusions are S-shaped and inverse S-shaped metal patterns. The radome consists of two layers of dielectric material each printed with S shaped and inverse S shaped patterns printed on respective sides. The gain achieved is theoretical maximum. The simulated and measured results which are in good agreement are shown.
