Abstract :
In March 1993 the Pacific Advanced Communication Consortium concluded a study of satellite-delivered PCS for thin-route areas. Two of the study´s purposes were to ascertain current user communication patterns and, on the basis of those patterns, assess the market potential for PCS in remote and rural areas. Results suggest that thin route residents 1) already are relatively heavy users of mobile communication equipment, 2) are concerned about the cost of new equipment and services, and 3) represent a promising market for PCS
