Abstract :
Complex medical engineering (CME) is a new field comprising advanced science and technology in the medicine and health areas. The idea of CME was first proposed by Professor Jinglong Wu, the founder of the Institute of Complex Medical Engineering, and who successfully organized the first CME conference in Japan in 2005. Now, the CME conference is serving as a major forum that brings researchers, medical practitioners, and engineers together to share ideas and to deliberate on the issues of applying science and technology to the medicine and health areas. Experts from around the world meet annually at a CME conference to present their new results and new requirements, and to promote collaborative research. The main theme of the CME conference is to explore the synergy of medicine, science, and engineering which includes biomedical robotics and biomechatronics, complex virtual technologies in medicine, information and communication technologies in medicine, complex technology in rehabilitation, cognitive neuroscience and technology, complex bioinformatics and many others.
