Abstract
This paper discusses design and modeling challenges of reconfigurable on-chip and off-chip antenna. Practical design implementations including on-chip bond-wire antenna with various 3D wire profiles and reconfigurable off-chip antenna are presented. Derivation of broadband equivalent circuit representations for reconfigurable antenna systems incorporating effects of radiation resistances is proposed for effective combination with nonlinear models of switch elements. Influences of switch properties on reconfigurable antenna performances are outlined.
