Abstract :
Indeo Video is a family of digital video compression algorithms designed to run on Intel´s general-purpose microprocessors as well as the i750 family of Intel video processors. The author describes the basic features of Indeo Video and how they are expected to evolve due to advances in software and silicon technology. He discusses four important aspects of video compression algorithms: ease of decoding, ease of encoding, degree of compression, and quality. He then applies this taxonomy to the construction of a ´roadmap´ for the future of Indeo Video.<>
