Abstract :
Modern life-style of human-being necessitates the use of Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) consisting of ad-hoc communications between portable computing devices such as laptops, PDAs, pagers and cellular telephones. The newly emerged wireless technologies, including IEEE 802.11, promise to outfit conventional portable and embedded devices with high bandwidth as well as localized wireless communication capabilities that can also reach the globally wired internet. This paper addresses the design and development of HyperLAN antennas meeting the IEEE 802.11 standards for wearable applications. Both rectangular and circular geometries of this antenna are studied and their performance characteristics compared.
