Abstract :
The CRAY S-MP architecture, which provides a single system image for scalar, vector, and highly parallel processing modules, is described. System configuration can vary according to resource requirements to address high-performance computing as well as mass storage and visualization applications. A common programming environment, common tools and libraries, and fast network access allow the system to take a large step toward integrated network supercomputing.<>
