Abstract
Several probe-fed L-shaped microstrip patch antennas, which are targeted at wireless computer networks and other similar systems operating in the 5.0-6.0 GHz frequency range are presented. The gap between the patch and the ground plane is filled by foam or air. The effect of the height of the antenna and the size of the ground plane on the antenna bandwidth is investigated. Both theoretical and experimental results demonstrate that the required bandwidth can be achieved with a height of about 3.5 mm.
