Abstract
In this work it is shown the challenges to characterize a “labmade” GTEM chamber since the analysis through the simulator, until the functional test on the built chamber. The details of the design and construction of the APEX (the excitation sector of the chamber), including the optimized way to install the connector and the septum, which is the most critical point on the chamber implementation, is given. It is also shown the basic concepts to design this versatile chamber, employed in pre-compliance tests and Electromagnetic Compatibility for automotive, electronic boards and integrated circuits. Experimental results are compared to the simulated ones.
