Abstract :
A circuit model of a traveling wave electroabsorption modulator (TWEAM) in which optical and electrical waves are considered at the same time is proposed. The model represents the optical response of TWEAM with an equivalent circuit. This allows us to understand the relation between the electrical and the optical responses and helps to design the device structure for desired performances. The model is implemented in commercially available circuit simulators.
