Abstract :
In the design of feedback control laws for nonlinear systems, the concept of exact linearization via feedback has emerged as a promising technique. In its current form, this concept is limited to deterministic systems. In a recent work conducted by the authors, it has been shown that a realistic modeling of power systems is via nonlinear stochastic differential equations. Also, the concept of exact feedback linearization has been extended to include a class of stochastic systems. In this paper, the concept of exact stochastic feedback linearization is used to design a nonlinear excitation controller for a single machine-infinite bus power system. Simulations are performed using the proposed controller and a well known existing linear controller (PSS). The results confirm that the proposed controller increases the stability margin of the system, while maintaining good performance in the presence of major disturbances
