Abstract :
Optical fibers or twisted pairs are used for fixed communication in telecommunications, local area networks and industry networks. The combined network architecture with twisted pairs and optical fibers, called Fiber to the somewhere (FTTx) is becoming more popular. For twisted pairs section, the classical Digital subscriber line (xDSL) or the Gigabit digital subscriber line should be used according to the new standard G.fast. This paper describes the analysis of transmission data rates close to gigabit per second on different types of communication cables. Model of transmission lines and their parameters are presented. The theoretic transmission capacity of the classical telecommunication copper-wire cable with a diameter of 0.4 mm, the flame-resistant communication copper-wire cable with a diameter of 0.8 mm and the signaling copper-wire cable with a diameter of 1 mm is calculated and evaluated.
