Abstract :
In this paper we present data on the terahertz refractive index and absorption coefficient for ordinary and extraordinary polarization of a highly birefringent liquid crystal mixture. The data are measured using a standard terahertz time-domain spectrometer. The results show a considerably high THz birefringence of more than 0.3 and only moderate absorption. Therefore this mixture is a promising candidate for future LC based THz devices.
