Abstract :
Issues involved in evaluating and assuring the effectiveness of the human side of the operator interface are described. A number of time-tested methods of dealing with these issues are reviewed, including approaches to managing the operator´s attention, the location of the operator interface, the determination of the optimal physical characteristics, ergonomic considerations, methods of operator-interface acquisition, and the justification of advanced operator interfaces
