Title :
Superconducting materials and their application: state of the art and prospects for the year 2000
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The state of development of metallic and ceramic superconducting materials is discussed. Both materials properties and processing are considered. Present and future applications are discussed. Emphasis is placed on current-carrying capacity, which is critical for large-scale applications such as high-field magnets, energy storage magnets, power transmission lines, rotating machines, and transportation systems. Additional applications discussed include small-scale devices such as electronic components and sensors
