Abstract :
For pt. 1 (algorithm and performance) see ibid. p. 713-17. This part deals with the modeling and simulation aspects of an adaptive resource allocation algorithm and associated signaling protocol for a short-range, multipoint TDMA wireless network handling packetized voice. We develop event based simulation models for packetized voice generators, multi-circuit subscriber stations (SS), and base station (BS). A step-by-step event controller has been developed for the signaling protocol between SS and BS which works in close liaison with a dynamic resource allocation algorithm. A distributed control algorithm has been carefully modeled and implemented so that the control functions are apportioned between BS and SSs. The simulation model is flexible enough to study three assignment modes viz., demand assignment (DA), adaptive assignment (AA), and a hybrid of these two. Simulation results are presented to validate the model and assess the performance of the algorithm
