Abstract :
Third generation mobile telecommunication systems need enhanced capabilities to manage new (mobile) services and the increased mobility of the user. Therefore, the authors propose two concepts for the signalling system. The mobility management platform, the concept of which is described in the paper, will provide uniform access to mobility functions for every user or network entity independent of the actual location of the requested functionality in the network. The mobility management platform is based on the IN concept. Transaction management is introduced to enable the signalling network to distribute load amongst several nodes. Homogeneous load n the network results in optimized usage of network nodes
