Abstract :
The paper presents an ontology model, developed with knowledge based editor, Protigi 3.3.1, for wind turbines´ condition monitoring. The ontology model proposed by the authors, describes the wind turbine components, developed a knowledge base, and can be used as the basis of fault detection and diagnosis system to reduce cost per kWh of generation. It Includes sensing specifications, according to BRAIME, SKF and HYDAC gearbox manufacturing organizations, fo vIta characteristics of a Wind Energy Converter´s (WEC´s) gearbox, such as (1) oil temperature, (Hi) bearing temperature and (III) oil cleanliness levels. The outcomes of the present work including specific identifications of the possible failures and their exact position In the WEC´s gearbox, through ontology queries, are provided and illustrated. The model has been Intentionally left open, for future sensor addition and further expansion flexibility, which combined with SCADA and statistical modelling cooperation, could lead to a performed maintenance regime.
