The range of the electromagnetic spectrum which has to be taken into account for compliance with the EU EMC Directive is not well-defined. The author discusses the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC (as amended), the generic standards EN50081 and EN50082, product standards and the frequencies beyond 400 GHz. The author concludes by considering future trends
