Abstract
The authors show by a series of selected cases from the studio area that the EMC-phenomena included in the PAVI-standards EN 55103 are relevant to the needs and problems of both radio- and TV-broadcasters. The special properties of the studio-electronics are due to the highly sophisticated, brand new HiTec equipment, often miniaturised, using high speed technology, with short development times, but with small production numbers. The enclosures often are kept simple, to reduce costs, and it is expected that the planning engineer must take sufficient care for adequate installation and protection. The dense package of the very different types of apparatus, like ultra-sensitive amplifiers for light control with a power output of up to 1 MW, and cumulative effects of large numbers of synchronized, cophase-operating devices, like monitors, or switching power supplies all need to be considered
