Abstract
The authors define the useful information that should be kept on-board in a microprocessor-based AC induction motor drive to assist operators and maintenance personnel. Features described are the power circuit, the control circuit, the user interface, and diagnostics. It is noted that repossessed microprocessor drive control has enhanced internal control performance and provides unique diagnostic features. In addition, a multiple AC motor drive application requiring serial communication and a protocol format is presented. The successful implementation of the protocol strategy has been documented in a large air-handling application
