  • Abstract
The performance is evaluated of a Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFE) operating on a 58 GHz indoor radio channel. This evaluation is based on measured multipath profiles obtained in eight indoor environments under both line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight conditions. The results are presented in terms of maximum achievable bit rate for a specified bit error rate requirement. It is shown that the number of forward taps of the DFE and antenna directivity have a substantial influence on the maximum bit rate for a specified BER, whereas external (antenna) diversity and a high level of received power helps to overcome stringent BER requirements. For a BER <10-3 it is found that (single carrier) transmission at bit rates of some hundreds of Mbit/s is feasible over MM-wave indoor radio channels
