Abstract :
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a wireless communication technology that is commonly used to identify unique objects, people or animals. An asset monitoring system is used to relay information on the utilization of both mobile and stationary assets. In this paper, the RFID technology is implemented for the purpose of monitoring assets in a laboratory environment. To achieve this, RFID readers are placed in two neighboring laboratories and are surrounded by tagged items. The outcome of our work is the generation of a database that conveys the availability and location of each item based on their ID number. The program enables user to edit entries in the database. This system sounds an alarm once an item is detected missing from both laboratories.
