Abstract :
In the modern world, people need to communicate with each other and have access to information, regardless of their locations. Wireless networks are known to be the prominent solution for the always best connected networking. On the other hand, people expect to communicate with each other, with acceptable quality. Therefore, researchers and service providers try to improve the QoS of wireless networking services. There are two important factors that influence the QoS in wireless networks: call blocking probability and the probability of call dropping due to the rejection of hand-off requests. In this paper, two new algorithms are suggested to improve the dropping probability. These algorithms describe how the bandwidth should be shared between users, to have adequate hand-off dropping probability and to increase the QoS of wireless networks. The proposed methods are evaluated through analytical modeling and simulations. The simulation results show that the suggested algorithms improve the hand-off requests dropping probability.
