Abstract :
The advent of virtualization brings server consolidation, performance isolation and non-stop services. However, virtualization also poses challenges. Because of the variation needs of workloads and services, the behavior of virtual machines is becoming increasingly unpredictable. Under this circumstance, the Credit scheduler that is employed to manage the network transferring through its static strategy can´t give a usable and efficient sharing and scheduling of these hardware resources. While more and more applications entail for quality of services in diverse network conditions, we proposed the vSuit scheduler with the advantage of dynamic feedback and elastic allocation of network resources to ensure minimum reservation, maximum limitation, and full utilization of network throughput. This paper introduces the credit scheduler used at present and analyses the shortage of this scheduler. Then, vSuit is proposed to improve the network performances. This new scheduler could collect the use of hardware periodically and adjust the resource allocation for each virtual machine in a next period. Implementation and evaluation are carried out to show the applicability and effectiveness of our scheduler. The result indicates that vSuit could adjust the throughput of each domain to process more IO requests and guarantee the quality of network services.
