Abstract :
The paper details the theory and experimental results associated with an edge shorted circular disk antenna placed inside a square waveguide. It is shown how this arrangement can be made to perform the function of a spatial phase shifter for advanced reflect-array applications. Analysis for the arrangement is given and validation measurements were carried out in the L-band frequency range. The resonance of the disk is around 2.8 GHz. These results show that the reflected phase from the circular disk whose perimeter is short circuited with two metal pins peripherally oriented at angle φ follows the trend of 2φ reflected angle as the disk is rotated under circular polarised wave excitation.
