Abstract :
Power-electronic circuits and systems with rotating electrical machines are often modeled at the system level with controls using a state-variable approach, wherein the machine may be represented in direct abc phase coordinates. The minimal state-space representation of the overall system is readily generated from the circuit-branch data. However, for systems with variable parameters (rotor position-dependent inductances) re-computing the state equation to reflect the changes is computationally expensive and challenging. This paper presents a very efficient algorithm for updating the required terms based on circuit topology that makes the overall model fast and suitable for real-time simulations.
