Abstract
Changes are coming to the maintenance and development of avionics software. The retirement of government employees providing software maintenance may force these changes. This paper describes the problems faced by USAF in software maintenance. It discusses three scenarios that could result in affordable modular common avionics reusable software. Of these three, the transition toward common Extendable Integration Support Facilities could lead to the solution for the USAF avionics software maintenance
