Abstract :
A strip line fed slot antenna having a new geometry is presented for 5 GHz band applications such as RLAN (radio local area network), HIPERLAN2, FWA (fixed wireless access), NWA (nomadic wireless access), and ISM (industrial/scientific/medical). The proposed antenna is of a planar type and can be embedded in wireless terminals for size reduction. The size of the antenna is 5.04/spl times/12.55/spl times/2.0 mm and the used substrate is FR-4 (/spl epsiv//sub r/=4 6). The antenna has been fabricated and measured. The measured 10 dB return loss bandwidth is about 35% at 6.231 GHz center frequency (5.125/spl sim/7.337 GHz). The antenna gain is about 4.0 dBi.
