Abstract
This paper explores some of the significant points of the IEC 34 series of standards on electrical rotating machines. The focus is on large AC induction motors. The IEC standards are then compared with relevant NEMA and IEEE standards. This paper provides both manufacturers and users who are familiar with equipment built under North American standards with a method of determining whether equipment will also be compatible with IEC standards
