Abstract :
The data structure course is a core foundation stone in a computer science curriculum. Many complicated concepts and algorithms make this course to be a difficult one. In this paper, a teaching method of combining theory and practice in the data structure course is presented. The concepts of logical structure and storage structure in the data structure are stressed to explain the basic data organizing and accessing method. The containers in the STL are introduced in this method in order to explain the practical implementation of each data structure in the engineering. It will make students understand the theories more deeply. It could effectively help students to master these data structures and apply them in different practical situations.
