  • Abstract
Advanced tire monitoring based on passive ultra high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) improves the reliability of tires and tire control systems and thus, belong to the most promising developments in vehicle safety. In this contribution we present different issues regarding the design of passive UHF RFID transponder antennas, which are directly attached to various tires. We conclude that antennas with wide impedance bandwidths lead to the most robust system performance when mounted on different materials.
