Abstract
This correspondence relates the rigorous mathematical analysis for the relationship between the particle nature of a photon of light given by Einstein famous quantum theory equation E = mc/sup 2/ = hf, and its relationship with the Poynting vector S (watts/metre/sup 2/). This in turn is used to derive the field distribution on the surface of a photon, and its associated properties like surface charge distribution and current distribution. It also extends this analogy to particle pair creation, when a minimum photon energy of 1.02Mev which had been observed and also postulated by P.A.M. Dirac for the creation (pair production) of an electron and positron. In this treatise the field values of the photon of electromagnetic radiation is assumed to adopt its r.m.s values before convolution into particle pairs (with conservation of energy/momentum maintained) and with Gauss´s law being obeyed at the point of conversion (discontinuity i. e. at the surface of the structure of a photon) from cylindrical co-ordinates to spherical co-ordinates. The electric field for a point charge like an electron/positron is correctly deduced, and the magnetic field expression for the particle at rest (possessing only angular spin) is derived, this includes the current value expression for particle pairs created from a photon of electromagnetic radiation.
