Abstract
Work in asynchronous design in the School of Engineering at Coventry University is described. Techniques used for the implementation of self-timed data-path functions, sequential control, and small-scale systems are reviewed. Based on the experience gained in this work important issues relating to the general adoption of synchronous methods are discussed. Conclusions address the current position of the asynchronous techniques and factors impacting an their future
