Abstract
Typical printed arrays fed by a printed feed network, with the main beam direction parallel to the substrate, are linearly polarized, with the direction of the polarization also parallel to the substrate. Printed notch and Yagi elements are easily integrated with the feed network, resulting in a planar structure which can be used as ´columns´ in phased arrays. There is no literature referring to the case in which the polarization of the radiating elements is perpendicular to the plane of the feed network structure. This paper describes a new type of radiating element, and its integration in phased arrays. The proposed element is fed by a stripline and its polarization is perpendicular to the plane of the stripline circuit.
