The relationship between electronic and paper-based materials is explained and the reader is introduced to modern state-of-the-art libraries. The primary Internet tools used to bring information from remote sites directly to the library or the user´s terminal are described. Finally, a list of oceanographic, ocean engineering and marine science centers that can be accessed by electronic means is presented
