Abstract
In this paper, a medium access control (MAC) protocol is proposed to investigate quality of service (QoS) transmission over ultra wideband (UWB) networks and increase the system capacity. This enhancement comes from using smart antenna (SA) technique. An estimation of UWB network physical model with SA usage, is done. In addition, comparisons between previous protocol using omni-directional antenna and the proposed one are made. The admission ratio and the system throughput are aroused for these comparisons. The proposed protocol shows better results for QoS transmission over UWB networks.
