Abstract :
Implementation of the object-oriented optical cable network database system for an experiment on new multimedia info-communication services in Japan, and new supported task applications applicable to FTTH (fiber to the home) are described. The fundamental mapping schema, which extends the above conceptual model, can be used to map cable network facilities and geographic information. It is constructed using graphical user interface component objects so that complicated data can be manipulated visibly when constructing and updating facilities data on the map. The fundamental performance of a prototype object-oriented database system is evaluated. This paper concludes with some remarks on topological retrievals using spatial data for cable network operations
