Abstract :
A new multichannel pulse analyser method based on digital signal processing techniques for application in nuclear spectroscopy was developed and tested. The system is capable of capturing the complete radiation induced pulse in digital form. Signals are properly formatted using a gaussian amplifier being the acceptable pulse width in the range from 2 μs to arbitrary large pulses. The developed board is designed to directly replace conventional analog-type PHAs with improved performance and consists of a PC-AT bus board. Differential non-linearity errors are minimised by a modified sliding scale technique. The full processing is done on board in real time being the maximum pulse processing rate of 4000 pulses for second on a 4096 channel histogram with only 1 to 2% DNL
