Abstract :
The relation between the system structure and the decision procedure is discussed. We suppose a decomposition of the observation space into a fault dependent subspace and a fault independent one. This structural property results in a simplification of the decision procedure. Furthermore the optimal decision procedure may be approximated by a simpler one, when the information about the fault concentrates in a given subspace of the observation space
