Abstract
For studying of a relativistic electron beams (REB) front influence on the MW pulse duration, it is suggested to use a two-beams field explosive cathode as a source of the REB with very short front duration (1 ns or less). For this purpose, the secondary beam is delayed for the front duration of the primary beam by means of some discharger (gaseous or dielectric surface). The primary beam is captured by a collector and the secondary one is utilized in a MW generator. Calculations show that the secondary beam can carry up to 50% of the total current of the diode. In this report, the authors show the theoretical ground in detail and discuss an experimental verification of this idea.
