Abstract :
This paper presents a practical design method as well as optimal design parameters for a 155 Mb/s ATM-PON access system. In this system, burst signals from multiple optical network units are received by the subscriber line terminal with various level and bit timing values. Receiver parameters, which are conventionally optimized for continuous or low bit rate bursts, have to be optimized for high bit rate and short burst transmission. This paper presents bandwidth, clock phase number, timing detection method, and noise reduction method for short burst signals. This design is implemented and found to work successfully
