Abstract
This work describes the potentials of a new language integrated query (LINQ) architecture to increase the efficiency in the engineering of industrial automation systems. Based on several applications - in particular the LINQ to XML module - the possibilities for optimization will be evaluated. The goal is to provide an efficient handling of XML based data exchange formats like AutomationML, XMpLant or PLCopen XML. To substantiate these examinations, an application example taken from the author´s research projects will be shown. In addition, examples of computer aided engineering (CAE) database applications are used to analyze possible future use cases of LINQ.
