Abstract :
In this paper, an overview of the radar test system and technologies are presented along with market and regulation information. The application of the adaptive cruise control (ACC) and anti-collision radar in the automotive industries has recently gained some traction. The accuracy and reliability of the measurement instruments and devices are critical to the safety aspect of the automobiles and drivers. In 2001, Anritsu Company introduced the ME7220A radar test system for target simulation and signal analysis for automotive radar. This instrument uses sensing technologies operating at the frequency band mainly from 76 to 77 GHz. In (Abou-Jaoude, 2003), the author has addressed the design considerations and test requirements with solutions. However, the details of analyzing the measurement accuracy of the ME7220A were not given. This paper discusses the key measuring parameters and assesses the sources of errors based on the ISO/IEC guidance for expressing uncertainty in measurement (GUM).
