  • Abstract
This paper presents the implementation of a system that visualizes the construction process using 3D modeling data and schedule data to analyze construction planning, and discuss the visual display of the environmental load regarding the construction site. Construction planning is currently shown on the planar presentation. Developing software visualizes the construction planning spatially on PC instead, and it shows the related properties such as cost and environmental load together. Past papers emphasize the benefits of visual 4D planning which combines 3D modeling data and process schedule for work progress control. It rapidly shows the work performance with scheduled activity and it makes ease of construction planning and inspection. Consequently it should increase the productivity and will reduce the rework. However, even a remarkable construction company won´t adopt such a work style because the lasting well organized way of working is not readily changed unless the new style has more benefit than the effort and cost to adapt. We thus aim at developing a system that utilizes the existing data, including CAD modeling data and schedules, and integrates them to enable the simulation of the construction progress so that the users are able to derive the same benefit as 4D-CAD without changing conventional work style.
