  • Abstract
A QoS based end-to-end communication support architecture is proposed to provide specification and QoS control for multiservice applications at local end systems. Through the MRIs (multiservice request interfaces) in the architecture, multiservice requirements are defined and specified. A protocol suite is presented to provide services as defined in the three building blocks of the architecture, MCAC (multiservice call admission control), MSC (multiservice session control) and MDC (multiservice dependence control). Our implementation experience shows that the architecture presents a useful framework which provides a precise specification mechanism for multiservice applications and essential control operations. Performance evaluation reveals the practicability of employing the proposed protocols to provide proper QoS support for multiservice applications at end systems
