Abstract
Normal subjects were tested at specific respiratory rates and volumes. The respiratory rates selected for each subject depended on the individual´s normal breathing rate. A nonlinear relationship between vagal power and respiratory rate was found. The maximum power occurred at each individual´s normal respiratory rate. An inverse relationship between volume and power was confirmed. It was observed that the value of end tidal CO2 was correlated with the subject´s perceived level of difficulty
