Abstract
The leakage current and the lifetime of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) were measured in a moderate salt-fog pollution as a function of concentration of calcium carbonate filler. Measurements of surface roughness and of the contact angle of water droplets on the surface combined with the examinations of the surface using an Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDAX) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) were carried out to characterize the surface of XLPE specimens before and after a salt-fog test
