Abstract :
A new analytical method for the analysis of the steady-state and transient processes in single-phase cycloconverters, which are widely applied in industrial power electronics and which are nonlinear, periodic structures, has been developed. Solutions of differential equations are “sewed” together, which leads to the derivation of a first order linear difference equation. Solution of this equation determines currents at the instants of the thyristors´ ignitions. Then the instantaneous currents are found. Thus an analytical solution of the problem is obtained. Physical experiments have been carried out to verify the results and good agreement has been observed
