Abstract :
Subthreshold pacing may threaten the life of the patient. In order to avoid this risk, the pacemaker should be able to check the effectiveness of its pacing pulse. Therefore, the aim of this work was to develop an algorithm for automatic amplitude adjustment (AAA), which is based on the measurement of the ventricular evoked response (VER). In clinical investigations the AAA for the VVI-mode was tested using an external system, consisting of an external programmable pacemaker (EDP 30 A, BIOTRONIK) and a laptop. The algorithm has been checked during 5 pacemaker implantations. The results show, that the system detects “no capture” reliably. During each investigation the threshold was measured automatically. The measured threshold voltage was reproducible equal to the value determined by the physician before
